Carol Becker Dean’s Merit Scholarship

The Carol Becker Dean’s Merit Scholarship was established in 2006 by Warren Batts. The endowed fund supports merit-based scholarships. 

Batts sat on SAIC’s Board of Governors from 1983–1999. Batts established the Carol Becker Dean’s Merit Scholarship because he had admiration for former Dean of Faculty Carol Becker. He believes in supporting scholarship as he benefited from a scholarship himself. Becker has a long history with SAIC from 1978–2007. She held various roles including professor of literature and philosophy, professor of liberal arts, and dean of faculty and senior vice president for academic affairs. [Link]
